Fareeda Berfin Jadwat - Guhertin
Will we witness daylight again?
Dry crusted chocolate nakedness, aerobatic curls, tightly bound
calico fibres melted, shrivelled against skin
Stillness to a touch we remain
Oceanic depths, mother earth’s protection nestled
between our smoked calloused hands, feet
Creating an imaginary cocooned protective layer
barbaric discordance cacophony echoes …
The unthinkable above “Dunya”
Olympian courage prevails, care observed
tick tock.. tick tock..
Day becomes night, night remains night
starless gazes, odour of fear circulated in a capsule,
Our temporary sanctuary
Worn, weary sleep deprivation highlighted
slipping in and out of consciousness
discomfort growing intensely,
wide red teary eyes plastered in the darkness
swollen fear inhaled.
Smiles evaporated, blankness beams.
Ear shattering unwelcome thunders
earthquake like explosions erupted in an almost continuous basis.
Shifting us voluntarily, blasts shock the earth bound,
heart pulsating cavity.
Transformative red clay fairy dust
sprinkles the hunched fearful warmed bodies
Columbarium thoughts, spinning on axis.
Ahmet Kaya melodies injected in veins
Carry his name across my lips “always”
perhaps danger has passed!!
Will we witness Daylight Again?
Oh my beloved awaits in safety in distant lands
Will we witness daylight Again?
